UniMe is currently enrolling approximately 24,000 students in more than 100 degree and 16 PhD programs and 16 Masters, offered by 12 Departments focused on several disciplines such as Law, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics and Earth Science, Ancient and Modern Civilisations, Economics, Engineering, Clinical and Experimental Medicine, Chemical, Biological, Pharmaceutical and Environmental Sciences, Human and Pediatric Pathology, Biomedical, Dental and Morphological and Functional Imaging, Cognitive Sciences, Political and Juridical Sciences, Veterinary Sciences.
The constant devotion toward the quality of teaching, research, third mission and sustainability allowed UniME to be ranked second among large Southern Italy universities, and it is currently listed among the top Universities in the world by some of the major international rankings such as ‘QS World University Ranking 2026’, being ranked in the #741-750 bandwidth worldwide and #22 in Italy (#25 in 2025).
The University of Messina offers students and academic staff a network of modern and functional teaching facilities located throughout the city.
These facilities host daily lectures, seminars, workshops, training events, and study spaces, ensuring a comfortable and accessible environment for university activities.
These spaces are also opened to the public during dedicated events, to promote dialogue and interaction, thus creating synergies between academia, civil society, institutions, and businesses.
The IChO will take place in Papardo and Annunziata Campus allowing the students to enjoy of all the facilities.
Papardo Campus hosts Engineering, Chemical, Biological, Pharmaceutical and Environmental Sciences and Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics and Earth Science Departments, as well as canteen, student residence and the “Vittorio Ricevuto” lecture hall.
Seven chemical laboratories with a capacity of 240 individual student positions, and six biological laboratories with a capacity of 114 individual student positions will host the practical exam.
A total twenty-five teaching rooms with an average capacity of more than 80 seats each are placed in block A. Nineteen rooms placed in the basement and first floor with a total capacity of 1764 seats will host the theoretical exam.
Annunziata Campus hosts Ancient and Modern Civilizations, Chemical, Biological, Pharmaceutical and Environmental Sciences, Veterinary Sciences Departments and the Veterinary Hospital.
The campus include canteen, students residence and the University Sports Centre (SSD UniMe).
SSD UniME cover 135,000 square meters, of which over 34,000 square meters are occupied by sports facilities, among the most advanced in Italy.
Students can participate in sports and take courses in all main indoor and outdoor sports. Sports facilities include indoor and outdoor pools, dance room, a large multi-gym area, rugby, baseball, tennis, soccer and hockey pitches, and more. It also includes a large parking area with electric vehicle charging stations, a clubhouse, a medical centre, and residences.
