As President of the International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) 2028 and President of the Società Chimica Italiana (SCI), it is my great honor and pleasure to host IChO 2028 in Messina, Italy.
The University of Messina offers students and academic staff a network of modern and functional teaching facilities located throughout the city.
Papardo Campus hosts Engineering, Chemical, Biological, Pharmaceutical and Environmental Sciences and Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics and Earth Science Departments, as well as canteen, student residence and the “Vittorio Ricevuto” lecture hall.
Annunziata Campus hosts Ancient and Modern Civilizations, Chemical, Biological, Pharmaceutical and Environmental Sciences,
Veterinary Sciences Departments and the Veterinary Hospital.
The fortress and the area within the walls stand out over the Milazzo landscape at the top of the ancient “Borgo”, representing one of the largest fortified complexes in Europe, with a surface area of 7 hectares and over 12,000 m² of buildings.
The Milazzo Castle is one of Milazzo’s main historical attractions and a symbol of Sicily.
Situated in a panoramic position overlooking the Gulf of Milazzo, this medieval castle dates back to the 11th century and tells the story of centuries of history.
However, it is undoubtedly the most spectacular, thanks to its stunning panoramic view over the Gulf of Schisò, with the majestic silhouette of Mount Etna in the background.
