Our vision for IChO2028 is strongly focused on innovation and sustainability and the entire event will be designed to minimize the negative impacts on the environment, society, and economy.
Organizing a sustainable event is not only an ethical choice, but also a strategic choice that aims to raise awareness among all those involved and in particular among the young participants in the IChOs.
According to The Minimum Environmental Criteria (CAM), defined by the Ministry for Ecological Transition for sustainable events in Italy, the IChO2028 will be based on 5 pillars
Sustainable locations: venues easily accessible by public transportation, for Minimizing the transportation-related emissions. The mobility of participants and exhibitors generates a significant environmental impact in terms of CO2 emissions that will be hampered by planting trees for Reforestation & CO₂ Offsets creating the IChO2028 branded forest.
Waste management: Separate waste collection will be implemented during all the event. Moreover, all the gadgets will be design using biodegradable materials (cotton, polilactic acid, wood, cork, recycled paper) for encouraging reusable.
Energy efficiency: LED lighting systems will be preferred to improve the energy-efficiecy
Sustainable catering: use of organic, local, and seasonal products, reduction of food waste, and preference for vegetarian and vegan options. Moreover, no food waste will be generated since all the food excess will be devolved to local charity.
Communication and awareness: participants will be informed about the green initiatives adopted and involve them in sustainability actions. A particular visibility will be given to suppliers and sponsors, deeply involved in sustainability campaign.
